The World Wide Web

Found these while flipping through last year's pictures.

They were taken October 25th, a sunny Saturday morning.  Bobby had been outside refilling the bird feeders and found these spider webs and came back inside to tell me to come look.  I grabbed the camera and tried to capture the beauty of the sun making the dew on these webs sparkle like diamonds.

Only 55 more work days and every day will be a Saturday and there will be plenty of time for surfing the World Wide Web or better yet searching for unexpected pockets of beauty like these sparkly spider webs!

Little Miss or Little Man?

All the time we were in Dallas, even though we were having a great time we were anxious to get back home on Sunday to participate in the surprise reveal of Baby G's gender!

Susan arranged with her doctor for Sara to pick up the envelope containing the results of a blood test that revealed if the baby was a boy or girl.

Sara waited until the day before the party before opening the envelope and then baked a cake that would reveal the results as Josh & Susan cut the first slice!
And cupcakes filled with the gender appropriate color of frosting!

Which will it be, Little Miss or Little Man?

Everyone registers their prediction.
Dad was certain Mom was carrying a girl!

Susan had a dream and was sure the baby was a boy!

Grandpa Bobby bet Josh it was a boy!

Grandma G. thought the baby was a girl!

Anticipation.......

Mom starts to make the first slice...

And........

It's a BOY!

A hug....

Yep, it's a boy!!!!!

Baby Boy Gering receives a few outfits from his Aunt Sara and Grandma/Grandpa!
Sara's choice of Batman a nod to one of Josh's childhood favorites.

His first tie!

His other outfit consisted of a sailboat onesie, orange/blue striped pants and jacket, some hats and socks!
(I had fun shopping for outfits while in Dallas!  The girl outfit will be returned to Kohls!)

Josh and Susan, we were so honored to be a part of this surprise!
It was a moment we will never forget!

Aunty Sara, you did good!

Jerry Retires

On January 16th we hit the road and traveled to Dallas to celebrate Jerry's retirement from American Airlines!

The celebration included a surprise Hawaiian theme when one of Jerry's DFW friend's sister and niece arrived bearing leis for Jerry and Mavis and then entertaining the attendees with three traditional Polynesian dances.

Bobby and I had a fun time on the road and it makes me look forward to more post-retirement road trips together!

We had such a good time while in Dallas catching up with all of Bobby's AA buddies.  There was lots of laughter, drinking, and good food!  Their old supervisor Mary Kay even came to the party and brought Jerry's original 1983 application for employment and his first id picture!

Where have the years gone?
Bobby and Jerry were good friends before I even met Bobby in 1980.  They worked together at the Burlington Northern Railroad, got laid off during the Frisco merger, teamed up together to own/operate J & B Construction for a few years, and then worked at American together for 20+ years.
Now we are all retired or almost retired and expecting grandchildren in 2015!

Here's to good friends and long careers that provide(d) a good living and retirement income!
