Little Miss or Little Man?

All the time we were in Dallas, even though we were having a great time we were anxious to get back home on Sunday to participate in the surprise reveal of Baby G's gender!

Susan arranged with her doctor for Sara to pick up the envelope containing the results of a blood test that revealed if the baby was a boy or girl.

Sara waited until the day before the party before opening the envelope and then baked a cake that would reveal the results as Josh & Susan cut the first slice!
And cupcakes filled with the gender appropriate color of frosting!

Which will it be, Little Miss or Little Man?

Everyone registers their prediction.
Dad was certain Mom was carrying a girl!

Susan had a dream and was sure the baby was a boy!

Grandpa Bobby bet Josh it was a boy!

Grandma G. thought the baby was a girl!

Anticipation.......

Mom starts to make the first slice...

And........

It's a BOY!

A hug....

Yep, it's a boy!!!!!

Baby Boy Gering receives a few outfits from his Aunt Sara and Grandma/Grandpa!
Sara's choice of Batman a nod to one of Josh's childhood favorites.

His first tie!

His other outfit consisted of a sailboat onesie, orange/blue striped pants and jacket, some hats and socks!
(I had fun shopping for outfits while in Dallas!  The girl outfit will be returned to Kohls!)

Josh and Susan, we were so honored to be a part of this surprise!
It was a moment we will never forget!

Aunty Sara, you did good!

Jerry Retires

On January 16th we hit the road and traveled to Dallas to celebrate Jerry's retirement from American Airlines!

The celebration included a surprise Hawaiian theme when one of Jerry's DFW friend's sister and niece arrived bearing leis for Jerry and Mavis and then entertaining the attendees with three traditional Polynesian dances.

Bobby and I had a fun time on the road and it makes me look forward to more post-retirement road trips together!

We had such a good time while in Dallas catching up with all of Bobby's AA buddies.  There was lots of laughter, drinking, and good food!  Their old supervisor Mary Kay even came to the party and brought Jerry's original 1983 application for employment and his first id picture!

Where have the years gone?
Bobby and Jerry were good friends before I even met Bobby in 1980.  They worked together at the Burlington Northern Railroad, got laid off during the Frisco merger, teamed up together to own/operate J & B Construction for a few years, and then worked at American together for 20+ years.
Now we are all retired or almost retired and expecting grandchildren in 2015!

Here's to good friends and long careers that provide(d) a good living and retirement income!

A New Year

A brand new year has begun!
So excited to welcome 2015; it should be a great year with retirement beginning in May, grand baby number one arriving in June, and a new swimming pool!

Wrapped up 2014 by celebrating Kendal and Tanner's wedding vow renewal celebration.  They were married exactly one year prior in Colorado and this was their chance to celebrate with all of their family and friends.

Kendal and Sara have been friends since high school, played LHS soccer together, and were college roommates!  This is a picture of Kendal and her beautiful baby boy Ryker!
Ryker joined his mom and all of the bridesmaids as they prepared for the ceremony at Sara's apartment.

A bride and her bridesmaids at the rehearsal dinner.
Funny story, when they all went to the tanning salon the next day, Sara discovered she still had some credits left over from her 2006 prom visit to the same salon!

Kendal lost her dad a year ago and the blue heart on the back of her dress was made from one of his shirts.  What a fitting remembrance of her father's love.

Beautiful friends!

Kendal had each of the bridesmaids select their choice of dress style in shades of blue!  And one of the bridesmaids and her mom sewed the gray wraps for each girl since the ceremony was outside on the patio.

More Gerings celebrating!

Father / daughter pose for a picture!

Another LHS soccer teammate / bridesmaid with her mom!
Gathering ideas for her own March wedding!

Brody B. joined the fun too!  (why did I not get any other pictures of the Rapps/Burggrafs)
Evan got tapped to fill in as the officiant at the last hour when Tanner's Uncle was unable to make the trip.  Evan did an outstanding job with the ceremony and added just the right amounts of humor!

Sara did all of the hand lettering for the various signs that personalized the reception venue!

The bride and groom walking down the aisle after the renewal ceremony!

Parents-to-be who walked down the aisle 3.5 years ago!

And early the next morning (or later that same night!) Bobby took these two to the airport for their trip to San Antonio to watch K-State play in the Alamo bowl!
A few pictures from their trip!

Christmas Celebrating Part Two

On the day after Christmas this group of cousins along with their parents and grandparents came to visit!  Unfortunately I did not take a single picture while they were at Lonesome Duck but these two pictures stolen from Facebook are from their Christmas night stay at Crown Center.  We loved having them visit and hearing about their adventures the night before, not sure if the parents were happy to hear about the unauthorized ice rink visit though!

We ordered lots of Minsky pizzas which were a hit!
More games, more music, a rousing White Elephant gift exchange and lots of visiting!

And the highlight of the evening.....the Raw Egg Challenge!
These three all swallowed a raw egg.
To my knowledge no one ended up sick!

Funglish is FUN!

It's late at night and Christmas Day 2014 is history.
From beginning to end; what a fun day it was!

We enjoyed several rounds of Funglish!
You need to be a WWII buff to understand Josh & Evan's clues!
Lots of bbq was eaten!
Later, more games, beer, and listening to music on the new bluetooth Bose speaker!
Can't wait to spend time around the pool with that speaker and this gang!

Baby Pea Pod joined the fun this year!
Can't wait to meet you little one!

Good times!

Dog Sitting and Dogwood

Bobby spent a couple weeks at Teresa & Charlie's keeping an eye on Mia while they went on a road trip vacation to Memphis, Virginia, and Kentucky.
I joined him for a four day weekend full of shopping, boat rides / fishing, reading, napping, and relaxing!

An evening boat ride!

The dogwoods were in full bloom!
The woods were full of these beautiful white trees!

Such pretty flowers!
